Lyrics “The Paradox”
Verse 1
How can broken hearts display the deepest love
And those with shattered dreams reflect the face of God
How can empty vessels be so full of hope
And feeble hands lend strength, I do not know
Chorus
This is the paradox of faith living
The paradox of living by faith and not sight
Imbedded truth revealed to me when I choose to believe
That God is pleased…with faith living
Verse 2
I know we’d choose the strongest and look for the pretty face
The one with all the confidence, poise and practiced grace
But God used little David with a slingshot in his hand
And the little boy who gave his lunch was blessed to feed the thousands
Chorus
This is the paradox of faith living
The paradox of living by faith and not sight
Imbedded truth revealed to me when I choose to believe
God is pleased…with faith living, faith giving
tag
shattered, empty, feeble
becomes wholeness, fullness, strength
This song has been brewing for awhile. I’m always amazed at the contrasts found in scripture that sometimes boggle our finite minds; the paradox of our journey with Christ. To gain, we must give; to be first is to be last; to be free means to be in bondage with Christ; to love we must serve; our weaknesses become a platform for God’s strength…I could go on. It seems the catalyst for this working is our faith. We know that God is pleased with that. It is amazing that it is in our feeble lives that He can showcase His grace. What a paradox! In our “human-ness” we long to showcase our strengths, (as if we can take credit for those). Anything we possess, any good thing, is from above…God is showcased after all, thus “the paradox of faith living”.
