To Dreamcatchers

Dreamcatchers are intricate and beautiful.  I love their symbolism.  Ojibwe people have a legend of the dreamcatcher. Storytellers speak of Asibikaashi; a native American woman who took care of the children and the people on the land.  When the people and children spread to the far corners of the earth, she made the dreamcatcher to hang over the beds of the children filtering and protecting allowing only the good and beautiful thoughts and dreams to enter.  The dreamcatcher would defend until the break of day,when all the bad thoughts and dreams would dissipate with the appearance of the sun.

I’d like to be a dreamcatcher for those so dear to me. A dreamcatcher in the darkness; strong enough to defend the sacred ground of the mind until morning.  And so I pray just that. May my love be full enough to cast away fear.
