It takes a lifetime of learning how to listen to be able to discern what to accept and what to reject from others. I’ve always liked the quote-
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”~Eleanor Roosevelt
We grow far and wide, sweeping through the earth for validation, but in the end we return to the roots of our childhood, grappling again with that first knowledge that we are created beautiful; with purpose and giftedness. So many messages bombard us. People offer advice, admonition, and criticism. Not all of it is bad, but most of it is too easily accepted. Without realizing it, we become porous and sponge-like, soaking it all up, truths and lies alike. The best days are the days when the battle swings heavy and close toward the ear of God; when our lives are defined by His words of truth, when life encompasses only His thoughts toward us and for us. Yes, that’s a beautiful day when every little dart meant to redefine us misses the mark of our hearts, and fails to pierce.
